This year the Herons Glen HOA Activities Committee continued its tradition of hosting a community shredding day, held on February 16, 2026, giving residents an easy and secure choice for clearing out old files, statements, and personal records. The mobile shredding truck was kept busy throughout the event as neighbors arrived with cartons and bags of paperwork ready for safe disposal.
Representatives from Salterra, a local senior living and rehabilitation facility, were also on site during the event, offering complimentary coffee and pastries while sharing information about their services.

By the end of the event, more than 4,000 pounds of documents had been securely destroyed. Events like this play an important role in protecting residents from identity theft and fraud. Financial statements, medical records, and outdated tax documents can contain personal details that criminals actively seek. Professional on-site shredding ensures information is destroyed immediately and cannot be reconstructed.
In addition to safeguarding personal information, shredding also supports environmental responsibility, as the paper is recycled after destruction. The strong turnout once again demonstrated the community’s awareness of both privacy protection and sustainability, as well as the value of coming together for practical neighborhood services. The Activities Committee would also like to extend a sincere thank-you to the residents and to Salterra for their generous donations, which helped offset the cost of the shredding truck and made this event possible for the community.
