The April meeting of the VOG was a cookout held at the bocce courts. Members and guests enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs prepared by fellow member grill masters. The party began with an invocation and The Pledge of Allegiance.
The Heron magazine took advantage of the gathering to explain its plans to honor Herons Glen veterans as part of its July issue’s 250th USA anniversary celebration. The veterans are asked to send pictures of themselves in uniform to hgnewspaper@gmail,com by May 31st.
Although the meetings may have ended for the season, members will be busy all summer working to get ready for the Veterans Day Dinner Dance on November 11, 2026. Ticket sales will begin this June.
VOG membership is open to all Herons Glen military veterans of all the branches. The next meeting is the Welcome Back gathering October 21, 2026, in the Ballroom.
