Alpha Delta Alpha (ADA) is a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Beta Sigma Phi was founded in 1931 by Walter W. Ross (yes, a man) during the Great Depression. At that time, there was a need for an organization that could bring women together and expose them to social, cultural and educational climates that were not available in those difficult times. Most important, there was a need for friendship and support from other women. Beta Sigma Phi was created out of this need. It did not take long before Beta Sigma Phis were helping others.
Typical chapters enjoy socials that range from informal gatherings to more casual affairs that often include friends and family. Cultural programs offer insight into subjects that range from the arts to gardening to local and state history. Membership in our organization provides opportunities to contribute to our local community through donations and volunteerism that develop lifelong friendships.
Our international members raise funds for their local charities and donate volunteer hours on a weekly basis and as requested by our charities. Each chapter determines its own service projects and participation is voluntary as to each sister’s passion. Our Chapter supports primarily All Souls Episcopal Outreach, Island Coast High School and Hearts and Homes for Veterans.
What makes us unique? Unlike a college sorority, our organization has members of all ages, educational and life experience backgrounds. Our sisterhood constantly redefines itself through the diversity and vitality of its members who share their ideas, talents and enthusiasm. That is why we are known around the world as “The Friendship Organization.”
Alpha Delta Alpha, a proud chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, met for their monthly meeting on Thursday, April 2, 2026. Founders Day was recognized and pledged to for another successful year. Officers for 2026-2027 were installed: President Gerry Weinberger, Vice President Denise Johnson, Recording Secretary Terry Viau, Treasurer Rhonda Parkinson, and Corresponding Secretary Edie Ochab. We look forward to another year of fundraising, volunteerism and socialization for the 2026-2027 year which will begin October 2026.
