Body Painting by Captain Ron Wolek
Wolek, a Florida-based artist and award-winning contemporary designer, explores transformation, identity, illusion, and the human form. Working with the body as both canvas and sculptural surface, he creates temporary works that exist between painting, performance, fashion, and spectacle. For Nude Nocturne, audiences can experience Wolek’s process firsthand as he creates a new work live in the Alliance for the Arts Gallery.
A third-generation makeup artist originally from Syracuse, New York, Wolek comes from a family tradition of transformation and image-making. Those roots developed into a creative practice that led to an award-winning career as a professional Hollywood makeup artist on productions including Stranger Things, The Walking Dead, and The Vampire Diaries. His more experimental body-painting work has placed him among the world’s top 100 body painters list by the World Body-painting Association, with surreal works presented in connection with Key West Fantasy Fest and international body-painting showcases in Paris and Austria.
